Region and Harbour
Former transit hall of the Holland America Line, Rotterdam, 1995

One of three exhibitions presented in conjunction with 50 Year of Post-war Reconstruction/50 Years Future in the former arrival and departure hall of Holland America Line in Rotterdam. The exhibition depicted the region and its development. A large model (35 x 17 meters), constructed from unconventional materials offered a fascinating impression of the region and its harbour in a performance-like presentation using light and sound. In addition, the specific characteristics of the regional districts were presented in ten pavilions. Each was designed by an artist or designer invited by OPERA. The concept of the exhibition was developed by OPERA in collaboration with the festival project group. OPERA supervised the total design, the coordination, the scale model, the computer presentation on ten monitors and the related invitation, brochure and catalogue. Surface area: 4.400 m2
