OPERA Amsterdam congratulates The Drents Museum in Assen with the beautiful, new extension and the spectacular exhibition 'The Golden Age of China'. The permanent art installation in the historic part of the museum, designed by OPERA Amsterdam. The museum will fully re-open to the public in February 2012.

This stunning exhibition features the world's largest and most important ceramic collection. Exhibiting 27.000 objects in one installation was a dream assignment and working with the V&A was inspiring and a true pleasure. We want to thank our client's team who made this achievement possible.

The main entrance of Amsterdam Central Station re-opens after 7 years of constructionwork for the Noord-Zuidlijn, an extension of the capital's subway system.

In 2010, OPERA Amsterdam developed a modular ‘designer's label' scaffolding system which was applied on many mayor stations throughout the country. (see: NS - Under Construction). This system features this new central entrance, while refurbishments are still not completed.

Frans Bevers lectures at the European Tour 2011 of SEGD
SEGD is committed to educating, connecting and inspiring those who work in environmental graphic design on a global scale.

On 12 October, Alexandra Wood ( Board Director, SEGD ) of Holmes Wood in the UK, and David Gibson ( Past President & Fellow, SEGD )from Two Twelve in the US will present the mission and activities of SEGD and share some of their current work. Frans Bevers will talk about recent projects.

Jelena and Olav are invited as a guest lecturers at the department of Spacial Design at the Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU). The course will run 8 weeks as part of the new programme of short courses by professionals from various disciplines in the field of architecture.

Jelena's course will run until mid November; Olav's will run until Christmas.

The museum in Den Bosch is currently renovated and enlarged by Bierman Henket Architects. The buildings and garden will be integrated with the new Stedelijk Museum SMA. OPERA is very happy to contribute to this Museumkwartier, a central location where arts and culture will be presented in this beautiful, partly historical surrounding.

The Rabo Artzone designed by OPERA opened last week. The new Rabobank head quarters in Utrecht contains a permanent exhibition space where selections of the bank's extensive art collection can be shown. Rabobank required a flexible display system that is easily configured to suit any combination of art installations. OPERA designed simple, straightforward elements that give structure to the space and enable specific solutions for each exhibition.

OPERA Amsterdam is nominated for the for the Ceramics Study Galleries at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The winners will be announced at the Awards show on October 22 in the Muziekgebouw, Eindhoven.

OPERA Amsterdam is nominated for the for the Emma Children’s Hospital, Amsterdam Medical Centre together with OD 205. The winners will be announced at the Awards show on October 22 in the Muziekgebouw, Eindhoven.

Emma Children's Hospital project is shortlisted for the Interiors + Design Project of the Year Award from over 70 entries.

Today the exhibition ‘The Cult of Beauty: The Aesthetic Movement 1860-1900' opens at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

OPERA designed this visually stunning exhibition that explores Aestheticism, an artistic movement which sought to transform the ugliness and materialism of the Victorian era by creating a new type of beauty that inspired an entire lifestyle.

The exhibition gathers for the first time many great masterpieces in painting along with sculpture, design, furniture and architecture as well as fashion and literature of the period.

Arranged in four main chronological categories, the exhibition traces the development of the Aesthetic Movement in art and design through the decades from 1860 to 1890. In addition the exhibition explores  the dazzling array of personalities of the time including William Morris, James McNeill Whistler, Frederic Leighton, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Edward Burne-Jones and Oscar Wilde.

Featured are two set-pieces. One evoking the atmosphere of Dante Gabriel Rossetti’s bedroom at Tudor House in Chelsea. Through small slots visitors can glimpse the softly lit space of the bedroom. The second set invites visitors to view Whistler's Peacock Room in a 360 degree projection.

The exhibition is on view until 17 July 2011.

The Ceramics Galleries at the Victoria and Albert Museum, which were designed by OPERA are nonimated for 'Museum of the Year'. The art fund prize acknowledges excellence and innovation in museums and galleries.

The judges are asked to select the most outstanding pieces of work from 2010 and to award the coveted Yellow Pencils. The annual D&AD Awards are recognized throughout the world. They set an absolute reference standard for creative excellence.

OPERA wins the pitch for designing the art zone in the new Rabobank Headquarters in Utrecht.

Rabobank invited three design practices to present their ideas; the flexible spatial system Opera presented was appreciated as the winning scheme.
